Helping a sponsee work the steps is a sponsor’s most important function. The Twelve Steps are the foundation of AA and other Twelve Step recovery. The steps require individual action, but they are not meant to be worked alone. A sponsor can help translate the general principles of the Steps into specific activities of the lives of the sponsees.
